Types of Screens

Plate reader

Using the EnVision for a plate reader based assay, one can detect fluorescence intensity or polarization and luminescence. The EnVision is a fast and sensitive benchtop reader that is fully automated for a 384-well format. Click here for information about available EnVision filters.

A plate reader based assay results in quantitative well information that can usually be analyzed in a month. The cost of such an assay depends on the type of reagents (e.g. luciferase reagent, antibodies, stains). Please bring a media storage device (flash drives, CD, external hard drives) for data storage. The files generated from EnVision are of the order of a few KBs.
The data will be stored in our database and will be accessible to the screeners through the website.

High content imaging

For assays requiring high content imaging, we offer the Arrayscan, a fully automated imaging microscope with stackers and a robotic arm. This system combines outstanding optical components with software and application support to allow high-throughput microscopy and sophisticated image analysis. Click here for more information about the capabilities of the Arrayscan.

While a visual assay using the Arrayscan requires more training, both quantitative and qualitative data are generated using Cellomics' BioApplications. In addition, images are stored within our network and can be easily re-analyzed with a different Bioapplication off line or exported for analysis with other software. A high content assay can take from six weeks to two months and cost will depend on type of reagents (e.g. antibodies and stains). Please bring an external hard drive (~ 2GB) for data storage.
